The Establishment of Chromatin Marks during Early Drosophila Embryogenesis

The aim of my project is to investigate the impact of rapid nuclear divisions on Polycomb response elements (PREs) by examining various histone modifications as well as chromatin binding proteins throughout the early embryonic development of Drosophila melanogaster. In order to achieve this I am making use of two techniques: immunofluorescence and chromatin immunoprecipitation, which allow the visualisation and quantification of these histone marks in wild-type Drosophila embryos.
